Have trouble sourcing fabric for your heavy bag? Use old clothes, ask for old clothes, go to a thrift store, find a textile recycling plant! There are many ways to find material.

How to Prep Cloth/Fabric for Filling

We recommend cloth so strongly that we included more detail.

Step 1: When filling with cloth, it is important to remove any other material that is attached. We are talking zippers, rivets, buttons, fasteners, etc. Anything that you wouldn’t want to kick should be removed from the piece.

Step 2: Cut the fabric into equal strips to prepare for filling. Think shredders and paper. Make the strips around 3 inches by 12 inches.

Combination Filling: You can also experiment with a combination of materials, such as cloth, to achieve a customized feel that best meets your training needs. Generally combo fillings are used as a transition from cloth to sand bags.

Filling the Heavy Bag
